The Super 8 Brand

    The Super 8 brand is the worlds largest franchiser of economy hotels. As of 12/31/2003 there were 2,083 open and operating Super 8 franchises in Canada and the United States.
    The Super 8 motel franchise started with the first Super 8 motel opening in Aberdeen, South Dakota in October, 1974. This original Super 8 started out charging $8.88 per night. Now the average size of a Super 8 property is 61 rooms. Super 8 is one of the largest and fastest growing economy lodging chains in North America. Super 8 is also thankful to have such strong brand loyalty among it's guests. Now the parent company of Super 8 motels, Cendant, is introducing their TripRewards program, whereby guests can earn reward points at any Cendant owned franchise. This translates to guests being able to earn points at many different franchises, including Super 8, and over 6,000 individual hotels.

Canalta and the Super 8 Brand

    Canalta has been aggressively working with and developing the Super 8 brand in Canada. In conjunction with Superior Lodging Corp Canalta has acquired the exclusive rights for Super 8 franchise development in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and northern and southern British Columbia. Canalta currently operates ten Super 8 properties throughout the province, and is always exploring new development opportunities.
    Super 8 Motels, Inc. has strict guidlines for quality that it demands from member properties. Super 8 conducts four annual quality assurance inspections on every Super 8 motel, twice the industry average. The quality of rooms and services at our Super 8 motels is paramount to Canalta.
